Ephesus, the greatest of all and the
most meaningful one. The best restored
archeological site dating back to the
3rd Century B.C. and it was one of the
most important Roman provinces along the
Aegean Sea in Ionia. It has been famous
with the Temple of Artemis which is one
of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient
World, it was the most productive one
because of its harbour and was the most
exciting one all through the ages that’s
where many civic and religious events
happened that St. John the Evangelist
mentioned Ephesus as one of the Seven
Churches in Asia Minor in his his Book
of Revelations.
Close your eyes and imagine that St.Paul is preaching to Ephesians in a
Synagogue, see the market, the agora,
where the merchants are trading, go to
the great theatre and watch the Roman
dramas and concerts and later stop by
the port and see the ships docking at
the harbour and unloading their products
from Egypt, Greece and the cities along
the Eastern Mediternean.
Would you like to visit Ephesus with me and feel this fabulous atmosphere
while you are walking on the marble
streets of Ephesus.

Ephesus from our guide's point of
Ephesus has been a leading places
for all civiliziation. At pagan age it
had Artemis Temple. It was regarded as
one of
the seven wonders of the world. It
atracted many people from all over the
world. Different states and cultures
respected the temple and artemis.
At Christian period it was
a center again. It was crowded and
important city.Ephesus's acceptence
ofChristian religion would mean increase
in popularity
of Christianity in Asia. So Apostle
often visited here. Saint John
came, lived, died and was buried in
Ephesus. Later on a church was built and
dedicated to
Saint John. Virgin Mary is
believed to have come and lived in
Ephesus too. Second Ecuminical had a
meeting in Virgin Mary's church
(in Ephesus in 481 A.D.) which was one
of the seven churches. So Ephesus was one
of important
cities for Christian world. Beside these,
it has nice beaches facilities to spend
time. Ephesus is the best for people who
love history, culture, sea, sun and fun.
With my best regards. |

For the Christians, Ephesus, with its
higly advanced way of life, its high
standart of living, the variety its
damographic composition and its firmly
rooted polyheistic culture , must have
presental itself as an ideal pilot
region
St Paul remainded in
EPHESUS for three years from 65 to 68,
and it was here that he peached his
famous sermons calling upon the hearers
to embrace the faith in one God. He
thought that God had no need of a house
made with human hands and that he was
present in all places at all times.
St John the Evangelist came
to Ephesus with the Virgin Mary in his
care. |
